Aims and general description

This project is seeking to create an open-code, (semi-)automatic translation system for the Spanish/Basque language pair. It is expected to specialise in administrative texts in order to achieve greater accuracy in translations in the administrations and in companies and to meet the needs of their translation spheres.

The aim would be to build an open-code machine translation system capable of being adapted to a number of languages and linguistic fields. A machine translation version will be developed to test this adaptability, and this version will specialise in one specific field: the translation of administrative texts and Official Gazettes (Work Contracts).

This project is also taking advantage of the significant results obtained in the Etortek Hizking21 project. Elhuyar and the IXA Group were among the participants in it.

This project has received funding from the Ministry for Industry, Trade and Tourism of the Basque Autonomous Community Government within the Gaitek programme during 2006-2007.
