EurOpenTrad 

Aims and general description

EurOpenTrad is the machine translation project we are currently running, and is the continuation of the OpenTrad project. In this project Machine Translation will be developed between English and the official languages of the Spanish State by developing hybrid systems developed in OpenTrad for the purpose.

To achieve this, two paradigms that have had a major influence on machine translation will be united: RBMT (Rule-Based Machine Translation) and CBMT (Corpus-Based Machine Translation, or DDMT Data-Driven Machine Translation).

The result will be an evolved machine translation platform, in other words EurOpenTrad. This tool will lead to a marked improvement in the quality of today’s OpenTrad machine translations, and will also create a pilot machine translation system between English and the official languages of the Spanish State. This will enable the system to be extended through other developers to other languages as well as future projects.

The eurOpenTrad project has received funding from the Spanish Ministry for Industry, Tourism and Trade in the "Profit Proyectos Tractores" grant application period for 2007.
